The Great Lakes Cup Rocketry Contest and Expo will be a fun event for the
whole family. Our activities start during the weekend of Prairiefest where we
will be conducting a high-powered demonstration launch right before the Eddie
Money
concert. If you've never seen a high-powered rocket launch
then you are in for a surprise. Stop by the Allied First Bank tent and pick up
your free paper rocket kit. It's an actual model kit constructed from cardstock.
Allied First Bank will also be handing out inflatable rockets for the kids.
Our contest activities start Saturday morning and continue through Sunday
afternoon. Enjoy watching world-class spacemodelers launch their rockets high
into the sky during the contest which runs on Saturday and Sunday. Numerous
contest events are being held including parachute and streamer duration contests
where the flyer keeps the rocket aloft for the longest period of time. Enjoy
watching boost gliders and radio controlled rocket gliders that take off under
rocket power then soar around the sky.
Stop by and purchase an already-built rocket that's ready to fly, along with one
motor, for a reduced price of only $5. Paper rocket kits (you need to build) are
available at no charge. Volunteers from the National Association of Rocketry will be on
hand to assist with launching your rocket. Additional motors may be purchased
from onsite vendors.
You may download a PDF flyer here.
The Expo events are happening at Allied First Bank, located at 3201 Orchard Road in Oswego, ILL.
